View Full Version : First Electric Guitar
I am interested in moving from playing the accoustic guitar to the electric, and was wondering which guitars you would reccomend. I don't have that much of a budget, so I'm pretty much avoiding anything Gibson.
Thanks. :)

I'm pretty much of a beginner with mine, but how do you know what's for you? Do you mostly judge off of their looks, or their quality/sound?

I think you are definately better off spending a few extra dollars to get something half decent. The difference with an electric over an acoustic is even a dodgy acoustic usually sounds ok, on the other hand a dodgy electric can sound and play so bad it will turn you off playing. Go for an epiphone or squier mid price guitar
as a complete contrast, i suggest a cort M200. The strat copys they make are awful, but the M200 is a really nice guitar, and adequate for a learner, and i even use mine for gigging and recording. It's a PRS copy style, and the pickups aren't too bad, but they certainly ain't Seymour Duncans! It's a really gd guitar for the money tho!
I'd go with the Fender Squier personally. It comes in a pack containing a Fender Frontman amp, tuition book, shoulder strap, spare picks etc and the whole thing sells for about €250 over here. It's a perfect instrument for a beginner without being too expensive...but i also know several people who gig with Squiers so they're decent quality too...up to you though
