Best Guitar for beginner

What would you consider the best guitar for a beginner. I am looing for a decent priced one, but one that will last and sound good. Any recomendations? Thanx!

What kind of guitar you are searching for? classic, acoustic or electric?
If you want to play electric guitar don't buy a classic one... they are too different!!
buy an electric guitar.
personally, i think the brand is not important.
play the guitar without the amplifier: if it sounds good and loud is ok, cos' when you connect it to the amp things can only get better.
try more than one guitar, the perfect guitar is like the holy graal

I would go with a gibson, used electric guitar. Electric guitars are easier to play on

try a fender squier ($100 or so) or a cheap epiphone model, epiphone is pretty good for a knock-off company

Actually, my first guitar was a second hand Epiphone Les Paul Special II models, and In my opinion it was the best guitar I've owned...It also makes for a stellar first guitar...You don't want to start with something like a gibson, because they are too expensive, especially when you decide your done playing, and trust me, you will say that once or twice...Hope this helps a bit...

Fender Squier guitars are good value, plus sound really good. Post no. 1 woohoo

As I never really had any lessons I'm not too sure what a professionals opinion is but I always thought learning on an acoustic with nylon strings would be best .. no need to worry bout bending the chords out out tune with clumsy hands and you'll be able to play for more than 15 minutes without your hands killing you. I started on an Ibanez Performance or something dodgey like that ... still makes a respectable enough sound.

Once you've got the acoustic down just move on to an electric eh anyhow that just my two cents ...

I also agree with the Fender Squire Strat. That was my first guitar and I still play it quite a bit. You could also find good deals on used ones. I picked up my Ibanez Joe Satriani model (older one) for $350 at Guitar Center. Not bad.

I think that the best advice you are going to get is to basically go to a Guitar Shop, and try various models and choose what you like the best....

I would start w/ a 2nd hand nylon string guitar. Then after a couple of months, if you still enjoy playing/practicing, then buy a decent 2nd hand steel string guitar. Your fingers will have become used to playing and won't hurt as bad, and then you'll have two guitars to learn different styles until you find the style/sound you like.
