I like many different styles of punk. Clash, Bad Brains, X, Social Distortion, Descendents, Bouncing Souls, Avail, Fugazi, Citizenfish, NOFX, Swinging Utters, and many others. Here's a midi of Operation Ivy

I'm kind of new to punk music. I realy dont know that many bands but thanks to my friend billy now I am hooked on this type of music. Don't laugh but I use to listen to Jazz. Not the new stuff but old 40-60's stuff. Talk about a big change in my music taste.

I also listen to older Jazz among many other music types. I often listen to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Bob James when I want to relax. As far as Punk goes, there are many different styles that have developed through the years. The most typical style is fast, raw, three-chord punk (NOFX, Green Day, MXPX, Blink 182, Descendents, and many others).

Here is a Propagandhi midi. They are a three-chord punk band whose lyrics are politically oriented.

Green Day started out Punk but they seem to be slipping into some other category since they started writing all these ballads

Green Day's first three albums were punk. Everything after that is a mixture of punk, grunge, and pop. They aren't punk, but they have punk roots. I would now categorize them as Top-40 Rock.

i think punk riffs are very basic compared to progressive metal and technical metal. but some punk songs have a good groove to it

How about a Green Day midi. I know it's off topic, but does any one have a midi file of Jimmy Eat World - "A Sunday"?
